Where is Roorkee?

Roorkee is situated on the National Highway connecting Dehradun/Haridwar and New Delhi (NH- 58). It is 180 km by road from Delhi, 75 km from Dehradun and 30 km from Haridwar.

Roorkee's major neighboring cities are Dehradun, Ambala, Chandigarh, Meerut, Saharanpur, Haridwar and Rishikesh. 

 How to get to Roorkee?

Trains, buses and cabs are easily available from major cities to Roorkee. Buses and trains plying on the Delhi-Haridwar/Dehradun route pass through Roorkee. The major TRAINS from New Delhi (NCR) to Roorkee are:

The nearest AIRPORT is Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun, apart from Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi. It is suggested to all the participants to book the tickets as soon as possible.

We may be providing BUS facility from New Delhi in case the participants are in group of 35 - 52. Also, incase you wish to come by a CAB (for a group of 4 - 10 participants) , we will be obliged to help you. In such case please contact +91 90123 90133.

How long does it take to travel to Roorkee from its major neighboring cities ?

On reaching Roorkee, how should I Come to IIT Roorkee?

IIT Roorkee is located very close to bus stand and it is just 3 km away from Railway Station. Rickshaws are easily available from both locations.

Will there be any problem of conveyance due to Kumbh Mela?

No. The frequency of bus and train services from Delhi to Haridwar region will be doubled to compensate for the extra traffic. However booking your tickets in advance is advisable.

Will accommodation be provided?

Yes, all registered participants will be provided accommodation facility at par with the living standards of students staying at IIT Roorkee.

What about fooding facilities in IIT Roorkee?

Cognizance will provide 3 days Catering Facility to all the registered participants which will include Lunch and Dinner. Besides, there will be a large no. of Food Stalls at Cognizance. There are also a large number of quality restaurants around the institute which include Dominoes,Café Coffee Day, Saagar, Prakash, Divine, Dynasty etc.

What are the certificate policies for Cognizance 2010?

Cognizance 2010 is following a certain set of rules to ensure the value and significance of a Cognizance certificate.

There will be 4 kinds of certificates that will be awarded:

1. A “Certificate of Merit” will be awarded to the teams coming first, second and third in various competitive events which requires short listing prior to Cognizance like Ideas, Spotlight, online events etc.
2. The rest of the teams participating in that event will receive a  “Certificate of Participation”. There is no "Certificate of Participation" for online events. For all the spectrum events, certificates will only be awarded to the first, second and third winners. A “Certificate of Participation” will be awarded for the workshops held during Cognizance, if it is specifically mentioned on the website.
3. Each and every participant coming to Cognizance will be awarded an “Acknowledgment of Participation”.
4. All the Student Partners of Cognizance will be awarded a “Certificate of Appreciation” subjected to the conditions mentioned on the website.

No Certificate will be awarded for attending the guest lectures. There will be no deviation from the above rules unless it is specifically mentioned for any event. In case of any conflicts, the decision of Team Cognizance will be final and binding.

How do participants claim any cash rewards?

After completion of the event, participants would be provided with the cash prize, if any, in form of a cheque they can encash later.

Is registration on the website necessary?

Yes, it is necessary for you to register on the website. For participating in online events, registering for workshops or applying for Ideaz / Spotlight it is mandatory to register. Registered participants will also be kept updated about all the new happenings of Cognizance with newsletters, update mails etc.

Whom should I contact once I reach there?

During Cognizance, as soon as you reach IIT Roorkee a Cogni-Buddy will be assigned to you for 3 days, who will be taking care of all your Queries. Besides, there will be Full Day Help desk to take care of your Doubts.

What is the registration fee for Cognizance'10?

Cognizance 2010 has two categories for registration. First for Rs.850 (Registration + Accommodation + Catering + Kits) and second for Rs.350 (Registration + Kits).
